Moira became best known for his murals, however his watercolour landscapes and oil paintings are collected by both the public and private sectors. This wonderful watercolour depicts an expansive landscape with pastel and oil crayon. Unsigned.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt. With glue residue to the outer edges of the board. Also with small pin holes to the outer corners.

Artist Biography
Gerald Moira was born in London, in 1867, the son of a Portuguese diplomat. Moira first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1891, and his first commission for a mural came soon after, for the Trocadero restaurant in Shaftesbury Avenue. His other early commissions included the ceilings of the vestry and library of the Unitarian Chapel, Liverpool, the boardroom of Lloyd's Register of Shipping, and paintings and stained glass for the Central Criminal Court in London. He also painted in oil, tempera, and watercolour. Moira was principal of the Edinburgh College of Art from 1923 until 1932, president of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, vice-president of the Royal Watercolour Society, a member of the Royal West of England Academy, and a founder member of the National Portrait Society.
