Painter born in Cheetham, Manchester, the son of marine artist Alfred Gomersal Vickers (1810-1837) and the grandson of artist Alfred Vickers (1786-1868). As a 7-year-old, he was living in Islington, London, with his grandparents. He married at Sheffield in 1866 and with his wife relocated to Calais, France, where their son Alfred Charles was born in the same year. The census of 1881 records him as a scenic artist, living with his son Alfred Charles Vickers (b. 1867), also an artist. Examples of Alfred Henry's work are held in the collections of Southampton Art Gallery and the Parliamentary Art Collection.
