Description

A characterful portrait of a spaniel. Poised as if about to leap to catch a bird, its wild fur is rendered with expressive brushstrokes. The work is signed and dated to the lower right, and is well presented in a gilt frame with a lamb's tongue running pattern. On paper laid to board.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age, including discolouration and minor surface marks and abrasions. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting. Scratches, scuffs, and chips to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.
