A farmer guides oxen as they pull a cart in this charming rural scene by Austrian painter Ludwig Putz (1866–1947). Putz employs an Impressionistic style with areas of subtle impasto that provide texture and character to the piece. Signed to the lower left. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Slight discolouration. Small abrasion to the lower left. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Light wear to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
