A charming 1920 German genre scene depicting a young woman at work in a rustic interior, shown beside a large traditional stove or cooking range. With her sleeves rolled up and back turned to the viewer, she pauses from her work to glance over her shoulder, lending the composition a natural, informal quality. The warm, earthy palette and loose, painterly handling create an intimate atmosphere, while the simple domestic setting offers a glimpse into everyday German life in the early 20th century. Well presented in a gilt frame. Signed and dated lower left. On canvas board.
Condition
A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. Loss to the frame moulding at the upper right corner. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
