A truly joyful floral still life in array of uplifting colours and forms. A cacophony of vibrant Summer flowers pile up and spill out of a vase, including peonies, lupins, freesias, stocks and irises. A small vase of delicate campanula adds weight to the lower left and a single iris that stands up in the foreground breaks up the still life and draws the eye. The flowers seem to morph into looser, fauvist shapes in the upper half of the painting. This Swedish school artist has signed and dated to the lower right and the painting has been very attractively frame in a French Impressionist style frame in tarnished gilt effect with a gilt slip. Condition
The painting is in fine condition. There is a loss to the lower left corner of the frame that has been touched in.
