Description

A captivating early 20th-century oil painting depicting a farmyard scene with a whitewashed farmhouse and thatched roof. A woman feeds chickens near the house, whilst a farmer milks cattle to the right and a distant farmhand tidies the yard. Painted with confident yet loose brushwork that beautifully captures the atmosphere of rural life. The painting is well presented in a statement gilt-effect frame with shell and acanthus ornamentation. Signed 'A. Coupey' lower left. On panel.

Condition

Hairline cracks in the paint surface (right hand edge/top edge) Light soiling to the surface of the painting and discolouration to the varnish layer. Fine scratch marks in areas of the composition. Small chips and scuffs to the gilt effect frame. The overall condition of the artwork is good.
