19th Century Oil - Mother and Daughters
Description
A mother and her two daughters sit beneath the shade of a tree in this fine nineteenth-century oil. The eldest daughter holds a sketchbook, over which her younger sister eagerly leans to look. The work is attractively presented in a gilt frame adorned with ornate corner decoration and floral motifs. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age, including discolouration and areas of craquelure. The canvas has been relined, and inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting. Slight undulation to the canvas near the centre. Light wear to the frame including scuffs and some stable cracking. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age and presents well.
