A charming 18th-century portrait depicting a refined Georgian gentleman. The sitter wears a crimson velvet coat trimmed with fine gold embroidery along the front edges. Beneath it is a matching waistcoat and a white lace jabot at the throat. Unsigned. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Fine craquelure and light abrasions throughout. The artwork has undergone previous restoration, including overpainting and relining. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age. Light wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and fine cracks.
