A wonderful mid 19th century watercolour depicting a shepherd from Torrejón de Velasco, a village in Spain. The sketch is inscribed with the location 'Madrid', suggesting the shepherd may have come to town to trade. A vivid life sketch of a charming character. Signed with the initials P.L. On paper.

Condition

Light foxing to the paper. Some marks and minor discolouration to the paper. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
