Description
A charming Dutch School portrait from the circle of Caspar Netscher (1639-1684) depicting Elizabeth Fenn aged six and a half. The young girl is elaborately dressed and holds a basket of flowers in her hands.
Inscribed 'Aetat 6 1/2' in Latin to the lower right corner. Beautifully presented in an 18th-century carved giltwood frame. Inscribed verso. On canvas.
Condition
There is widespread craquelure to the surface. Significant paint loss to the centre of the painting as well as surface marks and discolouration to the varnish. Losses and wear to the giltwood frame leaving it with a distressed finish.
