Collection Information

From an album labelled 'Sketches W.W.' A letter attached to the front flyleaf indicates that these sketches were done by William Waterhouse. At the back of the book is a separate section of works by Theodore Waterhouse, inserted by E.W. (a third brother, Edwin Waterhouse.). We have included images of the album cover, the bookplate and letter, but these are for illustrative purposes only and will not be included in your order.

Artist Biography

William Waterhouse was a brother to the illustrious trio of Theodore Waterhouse, Edwin Waterhouse and Alfred Waterhouse RA. Alfred Waterhouse was a prominent architect and designer of London's Natural History Museum and many other iconic Victorian buildings. Edwin Waterhouse was an equally prominent accountant, who co-founded the accountancy practice of Price Waterhouse that now forms part of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Theodore Waterhouse (1838–1891) was an English solicitor and founder of the City of London law firm Waterhouse & Co, which now forms part of Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP.
