Description

A fine hand coloured etching depicting St Martens Mill, Canterbury published by the 'Museum Galleries, 53 Shorts Gardens, London 1927'. On watermarked wove. Signed in pencil within the plate line to the lower right. Well presented in a card mount and original gilt frame. Museum Gallery sticker attached to the reverse.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and very minor foxing. Otherwise in fine condition.

Artist Biography

William Tatton Winter was born in the north of England in Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire where he studied art formally here and on the continent before eventually settling in Reigate. He received royal recognition from both Queen Victoria and Queen Mary and exhibited widely Europe-wide including the RA, RBA, NWS New Gallery.
