A charming early 19th Century stipple engraving in sepia tones, showing the three Hours, from the original painting by Samuel Shelley. The women represent the past, present and future. The title and a quote from the poem by Thomas Gray are engraved below ("Lo! where the rosy-bosom'd Hours, Fair Venus' train appear.") The artist's names have been inscribed below the image and the engraving has been presented in a 19th Century black lacquer frame with internal gilt slip. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. The frame has some scuffing and chipping.
