A charming rural canal scene by watercolours artist, William Matthison. Three young boys can be seen sat on top two old boats with fishing rods, hopeful of getting a catch. The painting is signed to the lower left corner. Well presented in a white card mount and sleek muted grey and gilt frame. Glazed. On paper.

Artist Biography

Born near Birmingham, England in 1853. William Matthison was a successful watercolours and oil painter, educated at the Birmingham Central School of Art, and under the tutelage of Edward Watson, a successful landscape painter who regularly exhibited his watercolours and oil painting in London.
