The condition is very good for a picture of this age with only some slight foxing and discolouration.

Artist Biography
William James Lucas (b.1888) was an analytical chemist born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, the son of a barge master and soap maker. Lucas was a self-taught painter and etcher and is known to have been a member of the Liver Sketching Club in the 1900s and 1910s. He exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, from 1924-30.
