Collection Information
William James Boddy 1832-1911. The son of an architect, he followed the same profession for a while, moving to York in 1853 as assistant to George Jones. However, he soon built up a flourishing practice as a drawing master and exhibited in York and London from 1865 to 1879. A folio of his work was presented to the Prince of Wales in 1900. For the last 25 years of his life he lived at Acomb, Yorkshire and he gave up teaching in 1908. His landscapes are taken from many parts of Great Britain as well as Switzerland and Normandy.
