Artist Biography

Born in Portsmouth, William Hyams spent his childhood in Guernsey. He studied at Brighton School of Art and spent some years at sea, which gave him the opportunity to paint marine subjects. He exhibited at the R.A., R.I., in the provinces, and abroad. He was represented in Brighton and Hove Art Galleries. He painted many Sussex scenes and was Chairman of the Brighton Arts Club in 1947.
