William Hogarth - Original 1755 Engraving. Laid to backing paper. Plate I, part of a series of four satirical election engravings by Hogarth after his paintings of 1754-55 on the same subject. Unsigned. On laid. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including general age toning, discolouration and some foxing. Some closed tears and creases to the sheets. A long diagonal crease to the lower left corner. Areas of loss which have been restored and filled in, to the upper centre and lower right, other small surface abrasions and scuffs.
