The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration to the paper and light creasing to the corners. There is a small tear in the paper to the upper edge.

William Henry Dyer was a painter in watercolour and sometimes oil, of Devon coastal and moorland scenes. He lived for most of his life in Babbacombe, Devon and his brother Charles Dyer was an amateur artist. The only recorded reference to his exhibits was a view of Torbay at an exhibition of West-country artists at the Graves Gallery, London in 1900. He travelled to Switzerland, Italy, India and Egypt where he sketched the tombs. J. Salmon of Sevenoaks published his work as postcards, these were mainly West-country scenes especially Dartmoor and date from around 1920.
