Artist Biography
William Mynorydd Davis was a sculptor born in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales. The family surname is spelt both ‘Davis’ and ‘Davies’ across different documentary sources making identification difficult.
He was admitted to RA Schools to study sculpture in 1854 and exhibited 40 works at the RA annual exhibitions between 1851-1888.
He was the elder brother of David Davis (1837-1921) who also studied sculpture at the Royal Academy Schools and exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1863-1887.
