Description

A fine pen and ink and watercolour painting by the artist William C. Clements, depicting a scene of docks in London with ships. Signed and dated to the lower left-hand corner. There is an artist's label on the reverse and another label inscribed with the title. Well-presented in a double card mount and in a light grey frame. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography

William Charles Clements was a painter born in London in 1903. Clements studied at Walthamstow College of Art, having previously studied at Hackney under Norman Janes. He exhibited at the United Society of Artists, Royal Society of British Artists and for some time was Chairman of Essex Art Club and also President of the London Sketch Club. He died in 1983.
