W. Williams - 19th Century Oil Boat Repairs in Mount's Bay

A charming 19th century oil on academy board, showing figures and fishermen before the tidal island of St. Michael's Mount. In the foreground several horses can be seen delivering materials to a damaged boat in the bay. To the left of the boat, two fishermen are readying themselves to lend a hand to the rest of the men on board. The painting has been signed by the artist to the lower left.On board laid to stretchers.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some abrasion marks around the edge of the board. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting in the composition. Light scratching and scuff marks noticeable over the three horses and boat, as well as down the right hand edge.
