Description
A charming late 19th century English School portrait of a young woman in a red cloak, fetching water. The artist captures the woman midway across a gentle river, barefoot on the stepping stones. Signed 'W. D. Halloway' to the lower right. Dated, 1888. Well presented in a gilt-effect frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some dirtying to the surface of the oil. There is some craquelure to the surface of the artwork. Light wear/abrasion to the edges of the canvas. The frame has a small loss to the upper left-hand corner.
