A finely detailed engraving by William Bromley (1769-1842) after a painting by Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830). The scene depicts the actor John Philip Kemble (1757-1823), one of the most successful English actors of his time, as Rollo in Pizarro. Lawrence painted four large canvases of Kemple in various dramatic roles, all of which were exhibited at the Royal Academy. Inscribed with the artist's name within the plate. On paper.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration, foxing, and creasing to the paper. Scratches to the surface. Small tear to the lower left.
