An Austrian scene depicting the evening sun falling on the mountain Spitkofel with a cabin or farmstead in the foreground. The impression of light playing across the rocky mountain range is particularly accomplished. Presented in a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. Signed to the lower-right edge. Inscribed with the location in German on the verso along with further inscription, including the dedication of the painting as a Christmas present in 1949. On canvas board.
Condition
There is some slight undulation to the board at the lower edge. Overall in very good condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.
