Description

Two head studies of children - one is signed with initials 'C.B' (Charles Frederick Buckley) and the other is signed with the initials 'M.B'. The study by Charles measures 9 x 10 cm; the study by MB measures 4 x 3.5 cm. Both laid to backing paper. On wove.

Condition

Condition is typical for pictures of this age with some minor discolouration and foxing, but overall the appearance is very good.

Collection Information

From a 19th century album of very fine Victorian watercolours and graphite drawings by members of the Buckley family, who were an artistic Irish family originally from Cork. Featuring works by Charles Frederick Buckley (1812-1869), John Edmund Buckley (1820-1884), W. R Buckley and others. An original inscription in the album reads 'Mrs Holdernesse - the gift of her affectionate brother C F Buckley.
