A delightful triptych by the artist Toyohara Chikanobu (1838–1912), depicting ladies playing a game of Hanetsuki – a traditional Japanese game, similar to badminton but played with a rectangular wooden paddle. Bears signature. Well presented in a simple black frame. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for artworks of this age including some discolouration, foxing and creasing to the paper. Foxing, creasing and light dirtying to the backing paper. Wear to the frame, including chips, scuffs and indentations.
