Thomas Harper - Original 1897 Watercolour. Signed and dated. Some mount burn and remnants of removed paper along edges from removed frame.Thomas Harper (1820 - c.1889). Landscape painter in watercolour and a drawing master. Harper was born at Eighton Banks, near Gateshead, but at an early age he moved to Newcastle where he became a pupil of Thomas Miles Richardson Senior. At the age of sixteen he exhibited two landscapes at the Newcastle Society of Artists. From 1841 he is believed to have worked in London, where in 1840 he showed his work at the Royal Academy and later at The Suffolk Street Gallery.For more information please click here.
