A striking modernist composition by Dutch artist Tadeus van Eijsden (1900–1980) depicting children playing in a snowy back alley beside a canal. Captured with bold block colour and minimal detail, Eijsden employs oil, watercolour and gouache to bring depth and dimension to the scene. Presented in an elaborate gilt-effect frame with distressed finish. Signed to the lower left. On thin card laid to board.
Condition
Minor abrasions in the upper third of the composition. Light wear and small chips to the framing edges. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
