Description

Sarah Alice Doidge - Original Late 19th Century Graphite Drawing. With body colour. Unsigned. On wove. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, wear to edges of the page and a fold crease in the upper left.

Sarah Alice Doidge (active 1859-1901) painted landscapes in oil and watercolour. She lived in London from the 1880’s and travelled extensively at the turn of the century visiting France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. These pictures form a comprehensive record of those travels made in her sixties. There is evidence that she was living in North Wales for part of that time. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, The Walker Gallery and many others including the Society of Women Artists.
