There is some slight discolouration and some small areas of restoration to the moulding on the frame. Overall well-presented and in very good condition.

Samuel Towers RCA (1862-1943) was a painter born in Bolton, Lancashire. He primarily painted watercolour landscapes. A tailor by profession, he trained at Bolton College of Art before abandoning tailoring to become a full-time artist. Towers was one of the original members of the Bolton Art Club and exhibited at its first exhibition in 1882. He lived variously in North Wales and at Harvington in Worcestershire from 1907. He was an elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy in 1903. He exhibited widely and showed the RA, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, RBA, RI, and RHA. Bolton Art Gallery held a major exhibition of his work in 1983. Lytham St Annes Art Collection has examples. His death was recorded in Harvington near Evesham. He was the father of Hilda Nicholson Brazier (nee Towers) who was also an artist.
