Description
Samuel Gillespie Prout - Original 1848 Watercolour. Signed in pencil lower left, titled and dated lower right. Signed and dated. He intended to follow the family profession of artist and his style was heavily influenced by his father's work. He made a tour of France in 1846 and made some largely unsuccessful attempts to earn a living as a teacher of drawing. His later life was mostly occupied in charitable work.
