An original landscape in watercolours by the well-listed British Artist Charles Edward Brittan (1870-1949). Presented floated and mounted in a delicate swept gilt frame. Signed 'Charles E. Brittan' to the lower left. On paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration and minor foxing to the watercolour. Light wear and stable cracking to the gilt effect frame. The overall condition of the work is good.

Artist Biography
Illustrator and painter, born in Plymouth, and educated there. He studied art under his father, also Charles Edward Brittan (1837-1888) with whom he is often confused. His father was a well-known painter of animals. He exhibited at the Newlyn Art Gallery, Plymouth Society of Artists, Royal Academy and Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and had a show at St James’ Galleries in 1901. He also held a one-person show at the Ackermann Gallery, London. He was known as a painter of watercolours, particularly of moorland scenes, and HM Queen Mary purchased his work. Brittan, who has work in the Torre Abbey Museum, died in Tavistock, Devon.
