An expressive sanguine drawing by the artist Samouil Nevelshtein, depicting a short-haired girl. Signed, dated and inscribed in Cyrillic to the lower right-hand corner. There is a label on the reverse with Cyrillic inscriptions. On wove.

Artist Biography

Samouil Grigorievich Nevelshtein (1903-1983) lived and worked in Leningrad, known today as St. Petersburg. Nevelshtein exhibited at the All-Union art exhibitions of 1947 and 1955, as well as the exhibition “The Soviet Russia” (Moscow, 1960). Nevelshtein's works have been exhibited in a few private collections in Russia and internationally.
