Description

An atmospheric oil painting by Rod Pearce (b.1942), depicting a bustling market scene with vendors tending to their produce displayed in wooden crates and baskets. Pearce employs loose, impressionistic brushwork and a warm, muted palette of ochres, greens, and browns to capture the ambient light filtering through the scene. The painting is well presented in a cream coloured frame with linen slip. Signed 'Rod Pearce' to the lower left. On canvas.

Condition

There is some craquelure to the surface. Light dirtying/wear to the wooden frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.

Artist Biography

Born in 1942, Rod Pearce graduated from Chelsea Art School in 1964 and spent his early career as an illustrator. In 1989, he transitioned to working as a professional artist full-time. Since 1990, his work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including public shows at the NEAC and the RI.
