Artist Biography

Richard Rhead Simm was born in England in `926. An artist with a natural talent that developed steadily from painting figures and battle scenes to seascapes and finally landscapes. He worked for the Royal Doulton Porcelain factory painting dinnerware and this encouraged his finely painted style. Painting on copper Richard Simm achieves a highly finished effect and his love for the English landscape is shown to the full with his scenes of water mills, rivers and thatched cottages in both winter and summer, depicting the countryside with a keen nostalgia.
