Reverend C.E. Leighton Thomson - Original 1965 Oil. Signed lower right. Titled and dated lower left. In a gilt and white frame. Signed and dated. On canvas on stretchers. In fine condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

The Reverend Leighton Thomson, TD, FRGS, was born in South China. His father was American and his mother English. His first schooling was in British Columbia and he was educated at Shrewsbury School and Pembroke College, Oxford, where he took an honours degree in geography. As a young clergyman he served as Assistant Chaplain in Alexandria, Egypt for three years until 1950 when he returned to serve at Chelsea Old Church for 42 years. He left his book “The Rebuilding of Chelsea Old Church” published in 1992. Leighton was an active committee member of the Egypt Diocesan Association (EDA)
