An original nautical study by René Marie Dujardin (1913-2002). White Ship at Anchor, gouache on paper. Signed lower right. Presented behind glass in a veneer frame.

Condition

Minor discolouration to the card mount and small scuffs to the frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.

Artist Biography

Born in Antwerp, René-Marie Dujardin (1913-2002) was a distinguished marine artist who studied painting at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In his early life he was a cadet on the SS Garonne, and travelled widely at sea, from Mexico to Norway, the Persian Gulf to Portugal. He established a studio on the left bank of the Scheldt, overlooking the harbour of Antwerp. His works have joined many collections both in Belgium – including the Belgian government – and abroad.
