A large mid 20th century oil on canvas portrait depicting a beautiful young lady in traditional folk dress, featuring a striking red bodice over a billowing white and striped dress, with her dark hair adorned with a flower garland. The work is presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame with painted slip and is signed 'R. Mallet' in the lower right. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Two previous canvas repairs can be seen verso. Inspection under UV light reveals minor overpainting. Light wear to the frame and stable cracking at the ornaments. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
