A very fine late 19th century portrait study of a young lady, she is depicted wearing a corset, patterned skirt and lace covering her shoulders. From her dress, we suspect she is Italian or Spanish. A single rose is held in her lips and she holds a large fan. This interesting portrait is signed and dated to the reverse. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
The artwork has undergone areas of restoration and surface cleaning. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered areas of overpainting. Fraying to the canvas at the edges. Minor surface marks.
