A striking abstract study in ink and watercolour by the respected British artist and designer Reginald James Lloyd. Lloyd's distinctive approach to painting is beautifully expressed in this highly expressive and refreshingly modern piece. His work as a stained glass artist has obviously influenced his fine art practice. The attention to form and dynamic use of line and tone is indicative of his successful career as a designer.
Inscribed on the reverse. Well presented in a card mount and painted wood frame.
Signed and dated. On wove.There is scuffing and surface dirt to the frame, particularly to the corners, as shown. With some light surface dirt to the lower right corner of the artwork.

Painter and stained glass artist, born in Hereford, he was largely self-taught. He moved to Devon as a very young child and is therefore associated with the region. He did received some part-time tuition at Exeter School of Art and he showed at the RI of which he was elected a member in 1982. Other venues include a group exhibition at the Tate Gallery, and a major retrospective at the Hereford Museum and Art Gallery during the summer of 1996. His work is included in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, National Maritime Museum, Tate Gallery, London, Hatton Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, Burton Art Gallery, Bideford, Exeter College, Oxford, the British Embassy in Paris, and many private collections nationally and internationally. He has also illustrated four books of Ted Hughes’s poetry and more recently designed and made stained glass windows for the millennium.
