Description
A finely detailed watercolour portrait by Reginald Easton (1807–1893) depicting a woman dressed in a black dress with a white bonnet and shawl. Books are stacked behind her, and she holds a rose in her lap. An inscription to the reverse identifies the sitter as Mary Drewe (1780–1842), youngest daughter and heiress of the Reverend Herman Drewe of Combrawleigh, Devon. The portrait is well presented in a gilt frame with an arched mount and velvet slip. Unsigned. On paper.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age, including discoloration and light foxing to the paper. Scratches, scuffs, and small losses to the frame. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
