Description
A lively still life by the artist Philip Naviasky (1894-1983), featuring a pink-hued bloom arranged in a glossy cobalt-glazed vase. To the left, a Royal Doulton figurine of a young sailor stands beside a fallen poppy. The composition is set against swirling wallpaper and a richly patterned tablecloth, creating a vibrant and dynamic composition. With areas of light impasto. Signed to the lower right. Handsomely presented in a gilt frame. On board.Condition
There is some unevenness to the board, including a line across the centre. Fine craquelure to the thicker areas of paint. Light abrasions to the perimeter. The frame shows signs of wear consistent with age, including fine cracking, scuffs, chips and small indentations.
