Artist Biography
Albert Caullet (1875-1950) was a Belgian painter, draughtsman, and watercolourist, born in Kortrijk, Belgium, in 1875 and died in Schaerbeek, Belgium, in 1950. He trained at the Academy of Courtrai and later at the Academy of Antwerp, studying under F. Van Leemputten. His work included still lifes, landscapes, village and town scenes, as well as depictions of livestock such as cows, horses, and sheep. Caullet's style is often described as impressionistic or romantic-realistic, with careful attention to light and atmosphere. He also painted interiors, port views, and coastal scenes, including a period in 1940 at Les Sables d'Olonne in France. From 1946 to 1949, he spent time in England, and he occasionally served as a teacher and interim director at the Academy of Courtrai.
