Peter Macgregor Wilson (1856-1928) - Original Late 19th Century Watercolour. With gouache highlights. In a white card washline mount and gilt frame. Signed lower right. Artist name and title printed on a label affixed to the reverse. Signed. Some foxing to sky area on top left. Minor scuffing to frame.Wilson was born in Glasgow and studied at the Glasgow School of Art as well as in London and Antwerp. He travelled widely, working in America, India, Persia, Russia and Europe. Wilson was primarily known for his landscapes and river scenes.
He became a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours (1887) and exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Walker Art Gallery (Liverpool), The Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours and the Royal Scottish Academy.
