A unique, one-of-a-kind, monoprint by the listed British artist Peter Ford (b.1937). Entitled 'Torso II'. Pencil signed below plate lines. Presented in a contemporary wooden frame. Labelled to the reverse.

Condition

Light wear to the frame. The overall condition of the print is very good.

Artist Biography

Painter and printmaker born in Hereford where he attended his local school of art, 1955-56. He undertook a teacher training course at St Mary’s College in Twickenham before furthering his art studies at Brighton College of Art, 1960-61. He later attended the Institute of Education, London University, 1966-67 where he obtained a diploma in education specifically for maladjusted children. Ford has exhibited regularly since the 1970s at venues that include the RA, RWA, Printmakers Council and at international print exhibitions in Berlin 1990, Biella 1990, Dublin 1990, Kanagawa 1989, Ukraine 1990 and Varna 1989. His awards include the 2nd Irish Miniature Print Exhibition, First prize, Dublin 1990, International Miniature Print Biennale, John Szoke Gallery prize, New York 1989, 8th British International Print Biennale, Lowick House/Barcham Green prize, Bradford 1984. Ford is an elected member of the RE and RWA. Since 1994 has produced monotypes, relief prints and collagraphs from wood and found materials. Ford also makes artists' books and artworks with recycled and hand cast paper. Since 1987, Ford has been a director of Off-Centre Gallery, Bristol. Examples of his work are in the collections of Arts Council of the Isle of Man, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, Bristol City Museum, James Joyce Museum, Sandy Cove, Dublin, V&A, National Trust of Scotland, Edinburgh, Tate Gallery, London, Worthing Museum, Sussex, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, Brunico Civic Museum, Independent Museum of Contemporary Art, Lvov, Ukraine, Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, Minia University, Egypt, Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro, Portland Art Museum, Oregon, USA and the Museum of Decorative Arts, Paris.
