With gouache highlights. Dated in pencil to the lower left corner 'September 78'. Laid on blue backing paper. Artist name inscribed on the right side of the backing paper. Inscribed. On laid.Condition
There is a 17cm tear along the lower margin of the drawing. Some light discolouration present. Wear to the right edge of the backing paper as shown, but drawing is unaffected. The drawing appears to have been cropped on the left side.

Artist Biography
Paul Girardet was a Swiss visual artist who was born in 1821. Several works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'Sir Francis Drake playing bowls at Plymouth Hoe' sold at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions, Bloomsbury House 'Old Master & 19th Century Works on Paper' in 2014. The artist died in 1893.
