Artist Biography
Paul Falconer Poole RA (1807-1879) was a British history and genre painter. Although self-taught, his fine feeling for colour, poetic sympathy, and dramatic power gained him acclaim. Poole exhibited several works at the Royal Academy, the first at the age of twenty-five. He was elected an associate of the Royal Academy in 1846, and was made an academician in 1861.
