Description

A charming graphite sketch with watercolour depicting a child sitting surrounded by foliage, holding wild flowers. Historically, the gender of the child is ambiguous due to male and female children usually wearing dresses until boys were breeched at the age of around six or seven. Therefore, it is unclear whether this is a portrait of a little girl or boy. Unsigned. Presented in a gilt frame and decorative card mount. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some light discolouration to the outer edges of the paper. Some very minor staining to the mount.

Size

24 x 20cm (9.4" x 7.9")
